He was in sensational form during the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he scored 779 runs in nine games, including five centuries and one fifty, at an extraordinary average of 389.50. He also carried his momentum into red-ball cricket, notching up 860 runs at an average of 57.33 in the Ranji Trophy, including an unbeaten 132 in the final against Kerala.
